How We've Grown! Hey, we hit 100 members!!!! With this growth has come increased activities, plus more and more programs. As a result we're not the same little club we were 21 years ago when we started. In fact we've become an event producing group (lectures, seminars, building events) that disseminates all kinds of woodworking information to our members. We've always been a geographically diverse group. Recently Member George Bosworth sent me this handy little chart of demographic info he prepared. It proves this is still true as it shows 3 members are from the North Bay, and 15 are from the South Bay, but 20 are from the East Bay. This is a surprise; I didn't expect so many of us to be driving from the East Bay. However the overwhelming majority are from the Peninsula (46) and San Francisco (16) areas -- a total of 62 members. Total distribution remains proportionally about the same as the last time I looked at this information, when we were at 65 members. Right now we're again looking for a more permanent, larger home base for our meetings. Yes, we travel to shops and other locations for many meetings, but about 8 or more per year are held in a meeting room for a lecture presentation. So rest assured we will continue to meet somewhere in the Peninsula area, as this is where our largest membership base has always been located. However, it's harder to find a place large enough for us to meet because we now have more members coming to the meetings. So we're looking for a much larger meeting room than we've been using in Foster City. It needs to hold at least 60 to 65 people (1,100 to 1,200sf -- say 30ft x 40ft), ideally with room to grow beyond that. It could be a church hall, meeting or social hall, community room or other public meeting room. If you know of such a location in the Peninsula area that is this large, please call Member Robbie Fanning at 650/323-1183 or rfanning@mac.com or me at 209/928-5900 or craig@mineweaser.com. Our ideal place would only charge a nominal fee for meeting there, and would allow us to store our video and book collection, projector etc. Of course it'll need to have tables and chairs available for use, and hopefully a projection screen or a large white wall to project onto, and a way to dim the lighting for our presentations. So please put your thinking caps on, and help us find a new home! We're bigger and better than ever before -- help us stay that way!
