March 20th (3rd Thursday)
This month's presentations
Tech Talk: Our own Jeremy Ashley (new BAWA member with Design degree from UK) will give a slide presentation on the work of Charles Rennie MacIntosh who was huge in the Arts & Craft movement exactly 100 years ago out of Scotland and had an impact in Europe and US. Strong designs in chairs and other interior work often with floral enhancements by his wife.
Main Presentation: Ejler Hjorth-Westh who is the current President of the Mendocino Coast Furniture Makers which is a Guild. He has his own studio and in addition is an instructor taking half the teaching slot left open by the retirement of James Krenov at the College of the Redwoods. Ejler makes custom furniture and his topic will be The Joy of Woodworking. You can see his work at: www.Mendocinofurniture.com. Ejler may bring a piece of his current work to enhance his talk. Two interesting facts about Ejler: he is originally from Denmark and he previously built boats due to his intense interest in fishing!
