Our April presenter will be Karl D. Felperin of Felperin Design Associates, Newark CA. Karl has been designing and building furniture professionally since 1978. From 1980 to 1985 he designed and manufactured furniture sold nationally at retail as KMW Furniture Makers Inc.. From 1985 to 2006 he was a freelance furniture designer, creating designs for some leading manufacturers in the US and abroad. Two of his designs -- the Triboro Gateleg Table for KMW Furniture Makers and the Fairfax home office desk have been cited for excellence in designs. Starting in 2006, Karl has re-phased his career to build individual furniture pieces, in the Arts & Crafts style.

Karl has been a member of the American Society of Furniture Designers, and has served as President. He created the Pinnacle Awards, which honors designers and manufacturers of retail furniture, and has served as Pinnacle Award Chairman.

Karl rents about 1,280 square feet of industrial space in Newark CA. He designs using AutoCAD and creates parts drawings that are contact cemented to dimension lumber for final mortising, tenoning, and pattern routing.

Karl will discuss the design, manufacturing and marketing process of his furniture creations.

His website is www.felperin.com

Following Karl's presentation hopefully we will have members' Show and Tell or jigs and fixtures. Perhaps, a Tool and Tech and Library talks.
