Woodworking Show Thank You's Robbie Fanning would like to thank all the people who made the San Mateo woodworking show such a success: Craig built a beautiful crate to house our beautiful display cabinet. It was quite an undertaking and he did it all alone. He and John Schmidt brought it down from Soulsbyville the morning of the show and came back down Sunday to crate it up and take it back. Stu Hoffer got up at 4 am to cover the items in the back of his truck the night before the show, when it unexpectedly rained. Stu also schlepped all the items for the display case to and from the show, as well as the big wooden signs. Harold Patterson provided toy parts for people to sand, as well as a video that we could play over and over in the booth. Dave Heim made a sign about our website, as he felt it is a wonderful resource for woodworkers. In order to make it even easier for people to reach us, Tony Fanning designed a give-away business card with our website on it. Tony Fanning made all the signs about the work in the display case, about the next meeting, and about the activities of BAWA like Rebuilding Together, as well as the wooden box to hold our flyers. Jamie Buxton made the attractive wood signs with the photo blow-ups of members' work. People signed up to fill every booth slot at the September dinner and October meeting, making it very easy for me to schedule. It's so great when everybody pitches in to help--no one person burns out that way. Robbie Fanning This month's meeting I always look forward to this month's Jigs and Fixtures meeting because the skill and ingenuity of our members is an inspiration to me. From very simple things such as a horizontal piece of glass that holds sandpaper to sharpen chisels to very complicated items such as a horizontal mortising machine using a router. So bring on your creations and remember there is a 6-ton weight limit on the floor. If you can't bring it then talk about it and if possible have photos or sketches. Just a reminder that those who get the newsletter from the web, we do have a Resource List which includes locations to buy tools and lumber. There is also a location of a gallery and web sites for recent speakers and hosts. There is also a list of books, magazines and video tapes which are in our library. There is also a Gallery showing photos of member's work. For those without a computer, I bring copies of the library list and the Resources list to the meetings. All of these need updating so if you have something to add then see me or Jamie Buxton our webmaster. The San Mateo Woodworking Show was a great success all due to Robbie Fanning and Stu Hoffer who organized the effort and all those others who brought items and helped staff the booth. Specifics can be found in the LAST MONTH'S MEETING column. Hope to see you at the November meeting.
