President's Corner

Thank you one and all!

First I want to thank all the officers and committee chairs from 2001. This includes: President: Linda Salter, VP & Editor: Mark Rand, Treasurer: Don Stern, Programs: Jay Perrine, Hospitality: Stan Booker, Membership: Robbie Fanning, Shows: Al Semenero and Don Naples, Outreach: Bill Henzel and Bill McCracken, Librarian: Mike Cooper, Webmaster: Jamie Buxton.

You all did a great job and BAWA ran smoothly because of all your efforts. We had a splendid year with great programs and a lot of interest in our club because of the dedication of these people. Many of these fine folks are continuing for a second term and I will be privileged to work with them. Others have already served two terms and are being forced to quit due to term limits. At the next meeting make sure you personally say "THANK YOU" to each of them for the great job they did!

Party Party!

We also had a great Holiday party in December, thanks to the Herculean efforts of Robbie Fanning and Connie Voos! They collected all the money, ordered all the stuff, and delivered voluminous amounts of food and drinks to the room. They also provided table decorations, paper plates, etc. for 50 people. With the help of a few others they decorated the tables, set up the food in warming trays (Janet Thorp provided an additional salad), and made sure everything was cleaned at the end. What a team! It was a great party! Thank you for all your hard work!

What will I do as President?

I don't plan on any major changes. Thanks to the preceding year's officers and committee chairs, the club is running too well to do that. Instead I'll look for what I could do to keep us going on this track. I want to make the business meeting part run as smoothly and succinctly as possible so we can get to the "Show and Tell" and to the main presentation parts. These combined with the 20-minute "Tools and Techniques" talks are where we can really "get our money?s worth" from every meeting. I will also be soliciting the ideas from the various committee chairs and other officers on what they want to do this year to make our club run even more efficiently, so we can all concentrate on having fun at the meetings. See you at the January meeting.

I also understand from Bill Henzel that Gene Wagg has consented to take the Outreach Chairperson job. Thank you Gene and welcome on board.
