Fall is one of the busiest times of the year for woodworkers. The rainy weather prevents us from outdoor activities so we escape to the shop. Many of our BAWA members enjoy making Christmas gifts in their shop for family and friends. Our box contest, which is next month, is also a good incentive to spend time in the shop. Deciding on what to make is often a more lengthy process than making the object. Cutting boards, napkin holders, napkin rings, wooden pens, picture frames, bowls, jewelry boxes, and of course Christmas ornaments are all popular gift items. Many of these small objects allow us to use our wood scraps that have been accumulating in our shop over time. Some of our more energetic members utilize productive techniques to mass produce their Christmas gifts for their family and friends. . Receiving a beautiful handmade wooden gift is a joy that continues year after year. Handmade wooden gifts often become cherished items that our friends and family proudly display in their homes. I encourage all our BAWA members to make a wooden gift this year and hopefully you will bring it to our meeting so we all can appreciate your craftsmanship.
