I have always enjoyed reading a good woodworking book. Visiting public libraries and bookstores are fun ways to find good books. The Redwood City public library has a very nice collection of woodworking books. A few years ago I joined the Woodworker Book Club http://www.woodworkersbookclub.com/ and found that my own collection of woodworking books suddenly expanded which encouraged me to build some new book cases. During the last 24 years, BAWA has accumulated a large collection of videos and books. Our library has now become so large that it is no longer mobile. Many members have donated books over the years which contain a vast amount of woodworking knowledge. Our new librarian, Dan Goodman is busy updated our list of books which will soon appear on our website. A partial list of our collection is here on our website. All of these resources are available to our members for a very nominal charge of $3 per month for one or more items, with a limit of two months checkout. Many of our members have requested that our library be located in a permanent place that can be more accessible. We would like to have a permanent home for our club where this library can be stored. A lot of time and effort has been put into this effort by some of our members in the past but we have not been able to find a permanent home that meets our needs and budget. John Blackmore is heading up our new permanent home search committee. I hope all of our members can help in this process. We need a place that can handle at least 60 people and is centrally located (between San Jose and South San Francisco). schools, churches, Senior Centers are possible sites. Alternatively we could find a separate home for library that would be accessible during the week for our members. One might envision a place where member could come and watch a video at the BAWA library or check out one of the many books in our collection. Our library will continue to grow as some of our very generous members donate more books to our library. The size of library has made it difficult for our librarians to store all of our library material in their home. Anyone who has any ideas for a permanent home for our library and/or club, please contact John Blackmore johnblackmore@comcast.net or myself. With your help our library collection will have a home that will be enjoyed by our members for many years.
