Party hearty!

So did you have a good time at the September Party? We won't have a Holiday Party in December so that the new folks -- people who've signed up at The Woodworking Show -- can join us for a regular meeting. As we've been saying, switching our annual party to September is an experiment. So if you had a good time, let the officers know. If there was something you didn't like about the party, let us know that too. By the way, Connie Voos did a superb job putting it all together by herself. Thank you, Connie.

Bring stuff for the show

Speaking of the Woodworking Show, Don Naples, Tony Fanning and I (and recently Gene Wagg too) have been hard at work building a large display case. Mostly this consists of the other guys figuring out way ahead of me what the next operation is and moving right along with it, while I then do some part of the work and make a mistake. It's said that you learn the most from your errors. So I can confidently say that while making this cabinet, I've learned the most of all of us. However, the point is that when the Woodworking Show arrives, we'll have a very nice display case in our booth. Members will be putting small boxes, bowls, tools and other things they have made in the case. If you want to bring something just call our Shows Chair, Robbie Fanning (650/323-1183) so she can make a little placard describing it.

Also if you have a jig or fixture you would like to show, please bring it too. Or anything else that may be too large for the display case. Arnold Champagne will be doing demonstrations, probably marquetry. If you have something you'd like to work on -- sharpening a tool, cutting dovetails, hand cutting joints, etc. -- bring it along to work on while you're staffing the booth. Elsewhere in this issue you'll find more details of the Woodworking Show. See you there!
