This Month's Meeting

July 15th (3rd Thursday)

We will meet at 6:30 pm at the Arques School of Traditional Boat Building, located in Sausalito (www.arqueschl.org). The School's main course is a one-year apprenticeship program for up to 6 students. During the one year course, students can expect to learn boat design, lofting, and construction; hand tool use, local tree felling and lumber preparation, bronze casting, rigging, and some sailing. The school also offers other classes, i.e., small boat building, lumber harvesting, drying and applications, Japanese woodworking, celestial navigation, etc.

Courses are taught by Robert Darr, Jay Van Arsdale and Rob Thompson. Robert Darr will be giving the talk at the July meeting.

Meeting Location

DIRECTIONS FROM SAN FRANCISCO:
Follow route 101 north, across the Golden Gate Bridge, and another 4 miles
Take the exit for SAUSALITO/MARIN CITY
TURN RIGHT onto BRIDGEWAY
After 1/2 mile, turn LEFT onto HARBOR DR.
Take the SECOND TURN ON THE RIGHT (past the main post office) puts you on GATE 3 ROAD
Follow the signs to the Arques School

DIRECTIONS FROM THE NORTH:
Take 101 south and exit at SAUSALITO/MARIN CITY.
TURN LEFT, go under the throughway
TURN RIGHT at the lights onto BRIDGEWAY.
After 1/2 mile, turn LEFT onto HARBOR DR.
Take the SECOND TURN ON THE RIGHT (past the main post office) puts you on GATE 3 ROAD
Follow the signs to the Arques School
