This month's presentation

Our July meeting will be at Woodline/Japan Woodworker in Alameda. Please bring chairs. For our Tech Talk the staff at Woodline will demonstrate a dovetail jig that was designed in Australia and manufactured there. Woodline is the sole American importer of this product which takes the approach of attaching the wood to the jig and then using your router table to cut the pins and tails. Our main presentation will be on metallurgy as it applies to plane blades by the renowned Ron Hock. Ron lives in the Ft. Bragg/Mendocino area and his business is focused solely on producing the finest quality blades and knife stock (http://www.hocktools.com/).

His products ARE SOLD by Woodline/The Japan Woodworker and you will be able to purchase blades that evening if you desire (Ron will NOT offer items at a discount as that constitutes competition with Woodline - however, Woodline might extend us a discount, not sure yet.)

Meeting Location

From the Bay Bridge:
Take Highway 880 South and get off at the 23rd Avenue/Alameda off ramp. Follow the main road around several curves and merge right onto 29th Avenue. Then cross the bridge. Turn right at Clement Avenue which is the first signal after the bridge. It is also the second intersection after the bridge. Follow Clement for 5 or 6 long blocks. The Japan Woodworker will be on your right.

From the South:
Take Highway 880 North. Take the 29th Avenue/Fruitvale exit. Bear right on 29th Avenue. Turn right on Ford Street. Turn left on 23rd Avenue. Bear right on 29th Avenue. Cross the bridge. Turn right at Clement Avenue which is the first signal after the bridge. It is also the second intersection after the bridge. Follow Clement for 5 or 6 blocks. The Japan Woodworker will be on your right.
